Originally these knives were designed for sailors as an all purpose knife to use at sea. They work great at cutting most foods, but should avoid harder foods, especially bones and frozen products.
It has a custom yaki sugi handle, which is a Japanese method of burning wood to protect from weather and bacteria.
The blade has some slight pitting from the rust which can be seen, but i believe it adds to the character.
